A Wrinkle In Time
As we have read A Wrinkle In Time until the very last chapter of the book, we are assigned to create a reflective essay. We are assigned to share three similar character traits with our chosen character. I choose Mr. Murry as my chosen character for reflective essay. Mr. Murry is the main character’s father (Meg), he is a scientist who was playing with time and space, which then he is rescued by his daughter, daughter’s friend, and son from a dark planet called Camazots. Through out the story, we both share 3 similar character traits: we both won’t let go someone we loved, we both made a risky decision, and we both have human limitation.
The first character trait Mr. Murry and I shared is that we both won’t let go someone we loved. Throughout the story A Wrinkle In Time, as the time comes for Meg to travel alone to Camazots to rescue Charles Wallace, Mr. Murry was hard to accept the fact and he won’t let go Meg to travel alone to danger. Mr. Murry left Charles Wallace (he is hypnotized) when he tessered Meg and Calvin away from Camazots, and only Meg could save him. Mr. Murry says, “Look, I don’t know what or who you are, and at this point I dont care. I will not allow my daughter to go alone in this danger” (216). Mr. Murry doesn’t care what or who are the Mrs. Ws, and at this point, he won’t let go Meg to travel alone into the danger. This character trait shows how much Mr. Murry loves his daughter until he won’t let go the departure of his daughter to Camazots. I feel the same way as what Mr. Murry feels. There is this one person whom I loved, that I won’t let go of him and accept the fact the he is going to another school. His name is Gabari Maska. He left me by going to another school. He is a good friend of mine, he always there for me, for I did the same thing to him. As the time comes for him to left me by going to another school, it is hard for me to accept the fact that he is going. But what can I do? He is going, and I can’t change it. But I remembered every second I spend with him. Like Mr. Murry, I have seen people whom I loved gone and it is hard for me to accept the fact that they are gone.
The second character trait Mr. Murry and I share is that we both made a risky decision. Throughout the story A Wrinkle In Time, Mr. Murry makes a risky decision that endangered a person’s life, Charles Wallace. As Charles Wallace is hypnotized, Meg is almost taken by IT, Mr. Murry sees no other way except tessering Meg, him, and Calvin. Mr. Murry is not an expert in tessering, but he sees no other way, and so he makes a very risky decision, leaving Charles Wallace behind in a dark planet and tessered Meg, him, and Calvin into nowhere. It is proved when Meg says, “We’ll never see Mother or the twins again! We dont know where earth is! Or even where Camazots is! We’re lost out in space! What are you going to do!” (190). “ He’s got to bring him back! He can’t just abandon Charles Wallance” (201). The quote shows Mr. Murry tessered Meg and Calvin from Camazots to an unknown planet and left Charles Wallace behind. Mr. Murry sees no other way and that is the only thing he could do. He does what he believes is right even though it is a risky decision. I did what Mr. Murry also did. It happened when I joined the Olympic competition. I choose an answer what I believe is right. Every decision is risky. Every answer that I choose decide whether I will pass the competition. I’ve see competetors decide the answer and win the competition. Like Mr. Murry, I see people make a risky decision, a decision that may endangered someone’s life, a decision that decided whether the person will continue or not. But one thing that I learned is, people make a decision, eventhough it is risky, for what he or she believe in.
The third character trait Mr. Murry and I share is that we both have human fability. Throughout the story A Wrinkle In Time, Meg always expect his father, Mr. Murry, to fullfill what she expects. As Charles Wallace is left behind in darkness of IT when Mr. Murry tessered Meg, him, and Calvin away from Camazots, Meg hopes her father will rush back to Camazots and rescue Charles Wallace. Camazots is a dark planet (planet that is capitulated by the Black Thing), IT is dangerous, Charles Wallace is controlled by IT, and as a human, Mr. Murry has human limitation. He cannot always fullfill what Meg is expected. I do know that as a daughter, I always expect that our parents to fullfill what we want, but I do also know that as a father, I cannot always fullfill our child’s wish. Mr. Murry explains to Meg the reason why he can’t rush back to Camazots and rescue Charles Wallace, he says, “ I am a human being, and a very fallible one” (190). As human, we have limitation. We aren’t perfect and could not always fullfill what is expected. I feel the same way as Mr. Murry. My parents always expect that I could make them proud by showing them that I always have a good score in every subject, and as a human, I cannot always fullfill what my parents expected. Like Mr. Murry, I see a lot of people that aren’t perfect, someone that always expect her or his parents to fullfill what he or she wish, human limitation, but I learned that someone will try their best to fullfill what is expected.
This character traits is important to understand myself because this character create my personality. The character traits explain who am I and what my personality like. The character help a person to understand more about me. The character help me to understand that God created us this way and this who we are. I understand now that we don’t have to be someone else because God created us this way. Before we understand somone else, we have to understand ourselve first. The character trait makes us unique than others and we don’t have to be somone else.

I did well in this project by explaining the character that Mr. Murry and I share. I explain the details about the character trait that we both share. I explain how the character trait applied to my daily life and the example in the book. I could improve it by explain the character trait we both more specific and how that character trait can help me through this life.
